Our History

Founded in July 1960 in Sobral, Ceará, Fábrica Coelho is a cornerstone of the region's industrial development and the legacy of the Barreto Arruda family. The company originated from the visionary expansion of the original "Padaria Coelho" (Coelho Bakery) by its founder, José Hélio Barreto de Arruda Coelho.

1960 – Foundation

Coelho Foods was founded in July 1960 in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil, as an expansion of Padaria Coelho, led by José Hélio Barreto de Arruda Coelho.

Early Years – Traditional Production

Operations began in a small facility using a wood-fired oven, producing baked goods with a strong focus on quality and craftsmanship.

Expansion Phase

As demand grew, the company expanded its facilities, product portfolio, and production capacity, transitioning into an industrial food manufacturing model.
